ZiLOG Announces Device Programming Support from BP Microsystems.

(Nasdaq:ZILG), today announced that its Z8 Encore!(R), eZ80Acclaim!(TM) and Crimzon(TM) LP32300 microcontroller (MCU) families are to benefit from programming support by a leading device programmer, BP Microsystems.

BP Microsystems equipment is used extensively by customers in programming centers for end user devices. With over 1600 socket modules available, this programmer supports virtually all package types from the largest QFP to the smallest uBGA (MicroBGA). This also includes the latest technology of QFN, MLF, and lead-free packages. The new ZiLOG support software can be downloaded directly to existing BP Microsystems programmers at www.bpmicro.com.

By extending programming support to encompass the Z8 Encore! and eZ80Acclaim! Flash MCU families ZiLOG devices are now supported by the programming equipment most commonly used in large volume programming houses, effectively decreasing the time from design win to volume ramp up. Expanding BP Microsystems's device support library for universal programming equipment means that thousands of customers globally now have a cost-effective programming solution that enables them to work with ZiLOG's award-winning MCU devices and draw added benefit and additional leverage from their investment in BP Microsystems equipment.

The Z8 Encore! family of Flash MCUs offers up to 64KB of Flash memory with performance further enhanced by ZiLOG's register-to-register architecture, featuring a 20MHz CPU core, up to 4KB of RAM, and a 3-channel DMA controller. The ZLP32300 microcontroller is an OTP-based member of the Crimzon MCU family of IR (infrared) microcontrollers. With 237 bytes of general-purpose RAM, 2.0-3.6V voltage range, high & low voltage detection, and up to 32 KB of OTP, ZiLOG's CMOS microcontrollers offer fast execution, efficient use of memory, sophisticated interrupts, input/output bit manipulation capabilities, automated pulse generation/reception, and internal key-scan pull-up transistors.
