ZiLOG Announces Device Programming Support from BP Microsystems.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Silicon Valley pioneer and leading provider of integrated microcontroller solutions, ZiLOG(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:ZILG), today announced that its Z8 Encore!(R), eZ80Acclaim!(TM) and Crimzon(TM) LP32300 microcontroller (MCU (1) (MicroController Unit) A computer on a single chip. See microcontroller.

(2) (Multipoint Control Unit) A device that is used to moderate a videoconference of three or more end points (users at computers or groups of users
) families are to benefit from programming support by a leading device programmer, BP Microsystems.

BP Microsystems equipment is used extensively by customers in programming centers for end user devices. With over 1600 socket modules available, this programmer supports virtually all package types from the largest QFP (Quad FlatPack) A square, surface mount chip package that has leads on all four sides and comes in several varieties. PQFP (Plastic QFP) may refer to all of the following QFP types. All quad flatpacks use gull-wing leads, except for the CQFP, which stick straight out.  to the smallest uBGA (MicroBGA). This also includes the latest technology of QFN QFN Quad Flat No-Lead

. Expanding BP Microsystems's device support library for universal programming equipment means that thousands of customers globally now have a cost-effective programming solution that enables them to work with ZiLOG's award-winning MCU devices and draw added benefit and additional leverage from their investment in BP Microsystems equipment.

"ZiLOG has enjoyed a long and fruitful association with BP Microsystems," said Ramesh Ramchandani, ZiLOG's senior vice president of marketing. "The support of the eZ80Acclaim!, Z8 Encore! and Crimzon families extends their support significantly. Not only does this development provide BP2200 users with a solution for programming ZiLOG devices at the development and prototyping phases of the product cycle, and for low to high-volume manufacturing, but it opens up a whole range of programming choices due to the full-feature set offered by ZiLOG microcontrollers."

"We gladly extend our device support to cover the eZ80Acclaim!, Z8 Encore! and Crimzon families of MCUs," said Loc Ha, BP Micro's Device Support Manager. "This addition further extends our leading position in microcontroller support."

ZiLOG MCUs are embedded in over a billion end-use devices worldwide in applications as diverse as consumer electronics and appliances, building control, factory automation, financial transaction processing, computer peripherals and the automotive after-market. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  and an on-chip Ethernet MAC (eZ80F91 only). The Z8 Encore! family of Flash MCUs offers up to 64KB of Flash memory with performance further enhanced by ZiLOG's register-to-register architecture, featuring a 20MHz CPU core, up to 4KB of RAM, and a 3-channel DMA (1) (Digital Media Adapter) See digital media hub.
