Zherdev, Vborny lead Jackets over DucksNikolai Zherdev scored twice and David Vyborny got the only goal in a five-round shootout, leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 5-4 victory Wednesday night over the Anaheim Ducks. It was Columbus' second stunning road victory over the Ducks this season. The Blue Jackets rallied from a 3-0 deficit on Jan. 5 and beat the Ducks with four goals in the final 10:02 against Ilya Bryzgalov. In the rematch, Columbus twice rallied from one-goal deficits to grab a 3-2 lead. Zherdev scored both of his goals against Jean-Sebastien Giguere during a 63-second span of the second period _ matching his output for his previous 38 games combined. Fredrik Modin scored his 200th NHL goal and Rick Nash also found the net for Columbus. Giguere had allowed just six goals over his previous four starts combined. The Ducks tied it 3-all at 13:02 of the second on defenseman Francois Beauchemin's second goal of the game and sixth this season, while the teams skated 4-on-4. But Columbus regained the lead on Nash's 22nd goal. Corey Perry and Chris Kunitz also scored for the Ducks, who had won their previous five games and six straight at home. Anaheim has 14 more victories and 33 more points than the Blue Jackets, who have the fourth worst record in the Western Conference. Kunitz sent the game into overtime, scoring his 23rd goal from the edge of the crease with 1:50 left in regulation after Teemu Selanne set him up with a perfect pass through defenseman Ron Hainsey. Zherdev beat Giguere to the stick side with a short wrist shot at the end of a 2-on-1 break at 3:41 of the second period to make it 2-all. He put Columbus ahead with a short tap-in for his 10th goal after Nash took the puck away from rookie Tim Brent and carried it out in front. Anaheim opened the scoring at 10:03 of the first period when Perry banked the puck in off goalie Fredrik Norrena's left skate for his 16th goal. The Blue Jackets, 3-for-33 on the power play in their previous nine games, tied it at 18:51 as Modin knocked in a rebound during an advantage. Anaheim had been perfect killing penalties for five games. Columbus was short on defensemen because of injuries to Adam Foote, Anders Eriksson and Bryan Berard, so six-time All-Star center Sergei Fedorov played a regular shift on defense. Notes:@ Norrena, who blocked a penalty shot by Selanne with 21 seconds remaining to preserve the previous win over Anaheim, also stopped Selanne on the Ducks' second shot in the shootout. ... The Ducks had 38 shots and held a 7-0 advantage against Columbus in overtime. ... The Ducks will play two of their final five regular-season games at Columbus. ... Dustin Penner's assist on Beauchemin's first goal was his 41st point, tying the club rookie record set last season by Kunitz. Penner already broke Kunitz's mark for goals.
