Zeligsoft will demonstrate an SCA component code generator for CP 289. DSP designers can use the code generator to quickly generate the code for a CP 289 component, compile and execute on both development host and embedded target.

SDR applications require the use of DSPs to perform the majority of signal processing functionality. However, version 2.2(.1) of the SCA standard, an open architecture framework that leverages component-based software engineering Component-based software engineering (CBSE) (also known as Component-Based Development (CBD) or Software Componentry) is a branch of the software engineering discipline, with emphasis on decomposition of the engineered systems into functional or logical components  for application and platform portability, does not support communications, configuration, and connection between software components running on DSPs in the same way it support software running on General Purpose Processors (GPP). A reason often cited for this shortcoming is that DSPs are too resource constrained to run the necessary GPP/CORBA-oriented component framework software.

CP 289, one of the proposals for SCA v3.1, enables a true component-based software approach for resource constrained devices. This approach allows SDR developers to design, deploy and re-use their signal processing code just like they would for other SCA component code. This is important for the entire JTRS development community. Processing code can be designed and implemented without the physical radio platform, accelerating development. DSP code can be easily ported from development hosts to embedded targets, enabling component code reuse without the overheads of CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) A software-based interface from the Object Management Group (OMG) that allows software modules (objects) to communicate with each other no matter where they are located on a private network or the global .
