Zebulon Pike: Explorer and Solider.


Zebulon Pike Zebulon Montgomery Pike Jr. (January 5, 1779 – April 27, 1813) was an American soldier and explorer for whom Pikes Peak in Colorado is named. His Pike expedition, often compared to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, mapped much of the southern portion of the Louisiana Purchase. : Explorer And Solider

Zebulon Pike was sent by the American government to explore and report back on the American West which had been rapidly expanding throughout the 1700s and into the 1800s with the acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase Louisiana Purchase, 1803, American acquisition from France of the formerly Spanish region of Louisiana.
