Zayante, Inc., the full service leader in providing complete 1394 interoperability solutions, will play a leading role in the Versatile Home Network (VHN) demonstrations scheduled during the 2001 International CES in Las Vegas, Nev. The CES runs Saturday, January 6 through Tuesday, January 9, 2001. The demonstrations -- to be held January 7 and January 8 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Grande and Royal Salons of the Las Vegas Hilton -- are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association, manager and producer of the CES.

Zayante will provide the VHN demo with two 1394-Ethernet gateways which will be connected by the new IEEE 1394b backbone in a home network cluster. The gateway enables the easy integration of Internet connections with the 1394 home network backbone.

Zayante also is supplying a 1394-based Personal Video Recorder demonstrator, which shows non real-time delivery and storage of video content over the Internet, which is then played in real time. The technology has been developed to enable the use of lower bandwidth technology such as DSL or ISDN for delivering HDTV into the home.

By allowing all products to be connected regardless of the protocol used, VHN and the Consumer Electronics Association have taken a tremendous leap forward toward the promise of Integrated Home Networking."

VHN has been established as a standard for interconnecting devices and cluster networks in a home to each other, and to access providers and services outside the home, using IP over the 1394 backbone.
