Zacks.com Announces that Ben Zacks Highlights the Following Stocks: Becton Dickinson, Walt Disney, Pacific Sunwear, and ExxonMobil.

Business Editors

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2004

Ben Zacks is taking a less aggressive posture due to a great deal of second half uncertainty. Read his market commentary and the blue-chip rotation in his Focus List to find out how you can navigate through this cloudy situation. Read about Becton Dickinson BD (NYSE: BDX), is a medical technology company that manufactures and sells medical devices, instrument systems and reagents. Founded in 1897 and headquartered in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, BD employs 27,000 people in nearly 50 countries.  (NYSE NYSE

Blue-Chip Rotation

The earnings bias of the S&P 500 names reflects some of the rotation that Ben Zacks sees, away from speculative small caps See Small capital  and technology names, and into more value-oriented blue chip stocks Blue chip stocks

. He is altering the posture of the portfolio a bit to reflect this move in the market.

In order to further increase his Medical Sector exposure, Zacks added Becton Dickinson (NYSE:BDX). The company specializes in syringes and other drug delivery mechanisms. It also manufactures ACE bandages and a variety of lab testing and diagnostics tools. BDX reported its fiscal first quarter results on January 30th, and it grew EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) A PostScript file format used to transfer a graphic image between applications and platforms. EPS files contain PostScript code as well as an optional preview image in TIFF, WMF, PICT or EPSI, the latter being an ASCII-only format.  by 37%, which was 8-10% above guidance.

Zacks added the Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS). To be clear, though, he would not have added the company based upon the takeover speculation. The company just reported blowout earnings for the fourth quarter of $.33 vs. $.05 a year ago. Disney is a world-class media content company, and analysts are racing to increase their 2004 and 2005 earnings estimates.

In the specialty retail arena, Zacks removed Quiksilver Inc. from the Focus List. He recently added top pick, Pacific Sunwear (NASDAQ:PSUN), which is one of the primary vendors of Quiksilver's products. He didn't want the double exposure with both companies on the Focus List.

On the industrial front, Zacks increased his oil exposure with ExxonMobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM). Exxon reported record earnings in 2003 after 19% EPS growth in the 4th quarter on a year over-year-basis. Analysts are almost unanimous in increasing their earnings estimates, and this powerhouse will benefit from high oil and natural gas prices.
