The Wall Street Journal wrote up ICICI (NYSE: IBN) and was generally laudatory about India's largest and most capitalist bank. But it warned that moving too down market with credit card offerings might hurt the bank. Given that risks of moving down market with U.S. credit card offerings seems to be well-contained by bank systems, Lewis expects IBN will learn from them. It has pulled ahead of State Bank of India in capitalization following the $1.8 billion secondary issue.

Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (NYSE:RIO) was boosted by its major debt restructuring. The world's largest iron ore firm will sell 10-yr foreign currency bonds to repurchase $300 million of 9% bonds of 2013.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (Nasdaq:TEVA) won FDA final approval for its ANDA for Ribavirin. Shipment began of the AB-rated generic equivalent of Roche's Copegus (R), used in combination with peginterferon alfa-2a to treat adults with chronic hepatitis C virus. It also won FDA ok for cefprozil in tablet and oral form, and oxydine in 3 doses including extended release.
