Highlights from the December 6th Featured Expert column by Vivian Lewis includes:

Westpac (NYSE:WBK) posted a 16.3% jump in net profit to A$2.539 billion for the year to Sept. 30, driven by a 15% jump in revenue to $18.126 billion. CEO David Morgan said the bank, which opened in 1817 as the Bank of New South Wales, had never been in better shape. "Business confidence is sitting at a 20 year high ...and the housing market continues to exhibit the characteristics of an orderly decline," Morgan said. "However", he added, "we are seeing intensifying competition from both new entrants and established market participants." Westpac's revenue outlook for fiscal 2005 remained positive.

Teva's (NASDAQ:TEVA) share price has recovered despite the rise of a new Israeli generics firm, Agis-cum-Perrigo. Teva won U.S. FDA approval for its abbreviated new drug application for fosphenytoin sodium to become final in Aug. 2007 when the Pfizer patent on the injected anticonvulsant runs out. As Cerebys(R) it has $62 million in annual sales. Teva got FDA final approval for Cilostazol Tablets and shipment began of the generic equivalent of Otsuka's Pletal(R) Tablets, for treatment of intermittent claudication, an arterial disorder causing often debilitating cramps. The brand product has annual sales of $178 million.

Canadian National, (NYSE:CNI), Canadian Pacific, and Norfolk Southern Railway agreed to significantly improve freight service between Eastern Canada and the Eastern U.S. It will give CN and NSR a seamless, direct north- south routing over CPR's lines.

Infosys Technologies (NASDAQ:INFY) and Microsoft announced a new information technology transformation initiative. This overcame the impact of Infosys adding more Mumbai shares to its higher-priced ADRs, why Lewis and her team sold half last issue.

Tenaris (NYSE:TS), the Luxembourg holding co., reported unaudited Q3 sales of $1.007 billion, up 33% on which it earned net income of $141.6 million ($1.20/ADR) up 130%. Seamless pipe benefited from high demand and high prices, for which sales rose 37% and prices by 18% (not strictly comparable yoy because of acquisitions and indirect investments in Silcotub and Sidor.)
