Highlights from the May 31st Featured Expert column by Paul McWilliams include:

A Sampling of Next Inning Model Portfolio And Focus Stock Updates

Catalyst (NASDAQ:CATS): Although McWilliams and his team do not have anything that is terribly definitive, all evidence suggests spot market prices for serial EEPROM's held reasonably strong during the three month period ending April 30, 2005 (CATS fiscal Q4). This should have provided CATS with a reasonable chance to increase sales in this area without significantly reducing their gross margins. However, during the last six months, McWilliams and his team noted several companies have bolstered their offering of white LED drivers. While they concerned as to how this might affect CATS in the longer term, McWilliams and his team doubt it impacted revenue in fiscal Q4.

Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT): appears to be under gentle accumulation. McWilliams and his team first noticed this when the ten-day simple moving average (SMA (1) See SMA connector.

(2) (Shared Memory Architecture) See shared video memory.

(3) (Software Maintenance Association) A membership organization that began in 1985 and ended in 1996.
) started moving towards the 20 day SMA. Following this, and in a very orderly procession, they saw the closing price pop first above the 10-day SMA, then the 20 day SMA, then the 25-day SMA, and finally the 30-day SMA. As it completed taking out these SMA's, McWilliams and his team also saw a bullish Bullish

Intersil (NASDAQ:ISIL): While the vast majority of the analog / mixed-signal companies that have reported calendar Q1 results have guided for a 1% to 4% increase in calendar Q2, ISIL guided for a 4% to 6% increase. At the time of this guidance, McWilliams and his team believed this was towards the conservative side of their expectations. However, recent reports from Taiwan indicate read/write heads A device that reads (senses) and writes (records) data on a magnetic disk or tape. For writing, the surface of the disk or tape is moved past the read/write head. By discharging electrical impulses at the appropriate times, bits are recorded as tiny, magnetized spots of positive or  for DVD drives DVD drives come in a variety of speeds and options.
