With the dollar continuing to fall, international currencies are strengthening and that, in turn, helps the international stocks and funds maintain a very powerful uptrend. Even though there was a rather sharp correction last week, the Asian stocks are quickly rebounding, particularly in China, which is already breaking to new highs on some of Dennis Slothower's recent recommendations. Another sector that is hot right now is the construction and housing stocks. With the Fed cutting the money supply, it means that the bond market is likely to stay firm and that means long-term interest rates are likely to drift lower again.

Over four months ago, Slothower recommended Flight Safety Technologies Inc. (OTC:FLST). As he wrote back then, he is not in the habit of writing about stocks trading below $5, but FLST stood out due to its partner, Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), and funding from the Federal government. FLST is offering more units, which will consist of 2 shares and one warrant. According to the company press release of 10/23/03: " The units will be issued by FLST and it will use the proceeds primarily to accelerate product development..." It appears to Slothower that the additional funds that will be raised will speed the commercialization of SOCRATES. FLST also plans to be moving to the American Stock Exchange before the end of the year. That could be a very good thing for FLST, giving the company wider exposure and more liquidity for its shares.

Stock Recommendations This Week

Westar Energy, Inc. (NYSE:WR) operates an electric utility in Kansas and owns interests in monitored security businesses and other investments. For the six months ended 6/30/03, total sales rose 6% to $691.3M.

William Lyon Homes (NYSE:WLS) is primarily engaged in the design, construction and sale of single-family detached and attached homes in California, Arizona and Nevada. For the fiscal year ended December 29, 2002 (fiscal 2002), approximately 75% of the Company's home closings were derived from its California operations.

China Yuchai International Ltd (NYSE:CYD) is a medium-duty diesel engine manufacturer in China that also produces diesel power generators and diesel engine parts. For the six months ended 6/03, net sales rose 37% to RMB2.37 billion. Net income rose 6% to RMB242.5 million.

PetroKazakhstan Inc. (NYSE:PKZ) is an integrated, international energy group engaged in the exploration, development and refining of oil and natural gas and the marketing of crude oil and refined products in the Republic of Kazakhstan. As of January 1, 2003, the Company had estimated total proved reserves of 356.2 million barrels of oil. For the six months ended 6/30/03, revenues rose 56% to $498.7 million.
