First, last night Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) significantly upped revenue guidance for 4Q04, raising the estimate to $9.3-$9.5B from the consensus view of $8.98B. The company widened gross-margin guidance to 55-57% from 56%. That popped the stock 7-8% higher in overnight trading Overnight Trading The buying or selling of currencies between 9pm and 8am. This morning the Nonfarm Payrolls Nonfarm payrolls is an economic employment report released monthly. It is a compiled name for goods-producing, construction and manufacturing companies. The data is released at 1:30pm BST on the first Friday of every month, or according to the U.S. numbers came out. The consensus expectation for November was for 200K net jobs created. The reality (or as close to it as these numbers get) was 112K. October's result was revised down by 34K to 303K and September was revised down 20K to 119K. Average Hourly Earnings rose just 0.1%, below trend. The Average Workweek was down 0.1 to 33.7, in a flat range. This data has rallied the bond market and knocked the wind out of the sails of the stock futures, taking the SPX (Sequenced Packet EXchange) The transport layer protocol in the NetWare operating system. Similar to the TCP layer in TCP/IP, it ensures that the entire message arrives intact.
