Berry Petroleum Co. (NYSE:BRY) released first-quarter financial results in early May. Earnings per share improved year-over-year but missed the consensus estimate by approximately 31%. The company posted earnings per share that were below analysts' expectations during the past three consecutive quarters.

Nuance Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:NUAN) posted fiscal second-quarter non-GAAP earnings of six cents per share in early May. The result matched the consensus estimate. However, earnings estimates for the third quarter and fiscal year have been declining. Analysts are projecting earnings of two cents per share for the third quarter, which is seven cents below the levels of two months ago. Current fiscal year estimates are 12 cents per share versus 33 cents two months ago.

Sysco Corp. (NYSE:SYY) announced in mid-May that it recorded a third record sales week in its fourth fiscal quarter. The new record amount was $695.9 million. However, earlier in May, the company reported fiscal third-quarter earnings of 30 cents per share, which was four cents lower than the previous year's result and three cents below the consensus estimate. Current fiscal year estimates of $1.37 per share compare to analysts' forecasts of $1.43 two months ago.
