CHICAGO -- Zacks Equity Research highlights Hittite Microwave (Nasdaq: HITT HITT Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia/thrombosis, see there ) as the Bull of the Day and Enzon Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: ENZN) as the Bear of the Day. In addition, Zacks Equity Research provides analysis on Con-way Inc. (NYSE NYSE

Here is a synopsis of all four stocks:

Bull of the Day:

Our Bull of the Day recommendation is for Hittite Microwave (Nasdaq: HITT), a leader in integrated circuits Integrated circuits

Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. (1.
, modules and subsystems for wireless communications wireless communications

System using radio-frequency, infrared, microwave, or other types of electromagnetic or acoustic waves in place of wires, cables, or fibre optics to transmit signals or data.
. The company has a broad product portfolio across a large portion of the frequency spectrum, including radio frequency (RF), microwave and millimeterwave. Hittite is poised to benefit as more applications move up the frequency spectrum and into Hittite's sweet spot. We believe that seasonal weakness in the fourth quarter may create an attractive entry point. We therefore maintain our Buy rating on HITT shares with a $55.00 price target.

Bear of the Day:

Our Bear of the Day recommendation is for Enzon Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: ENZN), a biopharmaceutical company targeting life-threatening diseases. Key product Abelcet sales continued to deteriorate for the third time in 2006. Although Royalty on PEG-Intron in the third quarter grew by 21% on a year over year basis, sales in Japan is anticipated to decline due to competition. The recent two pipeline setbacks with the non-approval of Marqibo and failure of Pegamotecan, combined with financial deterioration make us concerned that the shares will remain under pressure for the near term. We maintain Buy rating on its shares with a $6.5 price target.

Analyst Blog:

We are maintaining our Hold on Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), as well as our $47 target price. CNW reduced its fourth quarter earnings guidance to $0.72-0.76 per diluted share from $0.81-0.87, about a nickel of which is related to a tonnage decline from reduced customer demand in the LTL LTL - Linear Temporal Logic  operating unit operating unit

Consequently, we are lowering our earnings estimates to $4.01 per diluted share from $4.11 for 2006 and to $4.10 from $4.20 for 2007. CNW is expected to report fourth quarter earnings on January 29, 2007 after market close. We believe CNW's $0.40 annual dividend, which provides a 0.9% yield, is safe.

We continue to like Pride International (NYSE: PDE) for its strong offshore drilling Offshore drilling typically refers to the act of extracting resources, primarily oil, in an ocean or lake. Controversy
As with all oil drilling, there has been a certain level of controversy surrounding the issue.
