Here is a synopsis of why these stocks are on the Brokerage Buy List:

Rockwell Collins (NYSE:COL) is a world leader in the design, production and support of communications and aviation electronics solutions for commercial and government customers worldwide. Earlier this month, COL reaffirmed its fiscal year 2003 guidance of earnings per share between $1.40 and $1.45. The guidance includes a previously announced, fiscal third quarter one-time gain of 7 cents per share Cents per share

related to a favorable tax ruling regarding an over funded life insurance reserve fund. Rockwell Collins reported earnings of $77 million, or 43 cents a share, up from $60 million, or 33 cents a share, in the third quarter of 2002. The latest results include a one-time gain of $12 million from a tax ruling related to the elimination of an excise tax Excise Tax

Government sales for the quarter were $329 million, an increase of $42 million, or +15%, from the same period a year ago. Government contracts and strong current financials are just a couple of reasons why three out of the top 15 brokerage firms have COL on their premier Focus List.

General Electric Corp. (NYSE:GE) is one of the largest conglomerates in the world. Recently GE announced that it has been named one of this year's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" by Working Mother magazine and authorized a regular quarterly dividend of 19 cents per outstanding share of the company's common stock. In addition to this latest news, Vivendi Universal announced that Vivendi Universal (NYSE: V) and General Electric have a signed agreement for the two companies to conduct exclusive negotiations for a merger of Vivendi Universal Entertainment and NBC NBC

Brighter times are ahead for this blue chip company, which is why four of the top brokerage firms are recommending GE as a Core Holding.

Nokia Corp. (NYSE:NOK) is the world's largest cell phone maker. Nokia's market share in mobile phones is now estimated at 39%, marking both a sequential and year-on-year increase for the second quarter. This week Nokia announced its intention to acquire assets of Sega.com Inc., a subsidiary of SEGA.. The agreement will strengthen Nokia's online games and service offerings for the Nokia N-Gage(TM) game deck A game deck is a video game system, often in handheld form, such as the Nintendo Game Boy, Sony PlayStation Portable and Nokia N-Gage. , as Sega.com's leading multiplayer technology will become an integral part of the Nokia N-Gage experience. The company believes that the Key to their success has been, and will continue to be, their winning execution and strong competitive position in all major technologies and segments. For the full year 2003, NOK is looking to enhance their leadership with a record launch of more than 35 new models. Exciting new products are only half the story with this technology giant. Even though the company took a charge in the second quarter for personnel reductions, five of the top fifteen-brokerage houses list the company as a Core Recommendation for long-term investors Long-term investor

.

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) is a holding company whose subsidiaries are engaged in banking and a variety related businesses. In July, WFC reported record diluted earnings per common share of 90 cents for second quarter 2003, compared with 82 cents in second quarter 2002, up +10%. Net income was a record $1.53 billion, up +7% from $1.42 billion in second quarter 2002. The company announced that this was another great quarter of double-digit revenue and earnings per share growth, in fact, it was the eighth consecutive quarter of record revenue and profits. In addition to earning more of business, WFC has also been adding new customers through acquisitions. The markets are picking up and interest rates are still at 45 year lows, helping financial firms like WFC edge higher. It is no wonder several top brokerage firms are recommending WFC as a Core Holding.
