ZITEL ENTERS DIGITAL MARKET WITH ADVANCED I/O CO-PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY

FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 8, /PRNewswire/ -- Zitel Corp. (NASDAQ: ZITL) announced the availability of its I/O co-processor products for the Digital Equipment Corporation market. Zitel's first Digital solution, the CASD(R) 1000/2000, will provide substantial I/O performance enhancement for VAX and ALPHA systems. It will be available to customers in November 1993.
The unique CASD technology, developed by Zitel is currently used at Unisys mainframe sites to enhance I/O throughput -- and to reduce the need for CPU upgrades or costly memory or software solutions. Designed for multi-user, multi-tasking environments, the CASD system has been tested with the Digital Review DPM benchmark and has demonstrated substantially increased I/O throughput.
Pricing for CASD 1000/2000 will depend on specific configuration, but will begin at approximately $15,000 for an entry-level system.
Mike Rogers, Zitel's vice president of sales and marketing, stated, "For years, Zitel has been a technology leader in the OEM and Unisys markets, and we're now very enthusiastic about extending our unique technology to other platforms in distributed environments. Our CASD products have succeeded because they deliver highly cost-effective throughput solutions. I'm confident that CASD 1000/2000 will do the same for VAX and ALPHA users."
The CASD 1000/2000 products have been compatibility-tested extensively for Digital systems and popular third-part adapters.
