ZIFF DAVIS SELLS EUROPEAN MAGAZINES TO VNU.


In addition to its purchase of Miller Freeman, VNU's (Haarlem, The Neth.) Business Publishing Europe division has reached an agreement in principal to acquire the European publishing assets of Ziff Davis Media (Ziff Davis Media Inc., New York, www.ziffdavis.com) A leading integrated media company that serves the computer, videogame and consumer lifestyle markets. Its offerings include PC Magazine and the PCMag.com Network, which includes PCMag.com, ExtremeTech.  (New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
). No terms were given.

The acquired assets include the U.K. titles IT Week, PC Magazine, PC Direct and PC Gaming World, the German titles PC Professionell, PC Direkt and Internet Professional, and the French titles PC Expert, PC Direct and Yahoo! Internet Life Yahoo! Internet Life was a monthly magazine published by Ziff-Davis, which licensed the name from Yahoo!, a well known search engine website. It was created and launched by Barry Golson, the former executive editor of Playboy and TV guide. . The company has 350 employees and generated $77 million in revenues during 1999.

In related news, VNU Magazines The Netherlands has acquired a 58% interest in ilse media groep, a Dutch Internet company, and will incorporate its Internet activities into the company.
