ZIBA DESIGN WINS NATIONAL, INTERNATIONAL ACCLAIM FROM LEADING PUBLICATIONS

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Business Week recognized Sohrab Vossoughi, president and founder of ZIBA(TM) Design, as one of the world's leading entrepreneurs in its Jan. 11 article, "The Best of 1992," ZIBA Design said today. This year's award represents the fourth consecutive year that Business Week has honored ZIBA for its innovative approach to industrial design. Recognition was awarded by a global mix of Business Week editors, who were asked to nominate exceptional business persons and their products for outstanding achievements. Business Week described ZIBA as "hot" and the firm's products as "designs of the time." The feature noted that "by specializing in consumer and medical electronic products, Vossoughi has enlisted a gold- plated client list: 3M, Microsoft, Federal Express, Hewlett-Packard, Matsushita and Sanyo."
Vossoughi attributes much of ZIBA's award-winning success to the broad research it performs throughout the design process and the attention it pays to human factors. "Before we begin any project," Vossoughi explained, "we conduct extensive interviews with consumers and end users to ensure we fully understand their needs -- as well as the needs of our client."
ZIBA also recently won awards in two categories in the sixth annual Excellence in Design competition. The competition is sponsored by Appliance Manufacturer, a magazine specializing in design for manufacturing solutions. ZIBA received first place for its pH Meter and an award of merit for its Woodzig Power Pruner. Winning entries were selected by a panel of industrial designers on the basis of aesthetics, human factors and innovativeness. Appliance Manufacturer praised each Excellence in Design winner for bold departures from the norm, and noted that ZIBA's designs exemplified extensive ergonomic research, ruggedness and high quality.
ZIBA Design, consistently recognized in both national and international competitions, is a world leader in designing innovative solutions for office and computer, low-tech consumer, consumer electronics, industrial, and laboratory and medical products. The firm's broad-based expertise ranges from industrial design and engineering, to product definition, market analysis, human factors engineering and prototype development. Turning to ZIBA for the same innovative and visually exciting solutions that have earned it a place in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection, ZIBA's expanding client list also includes Apple Computers, Canon and Nike.
