ZEOS BEGINS SHIPPING NEW LINE OF ADVANCED PERSONAL
COMPUTER SYSTEMS FEATURING HIGH PERFORMANCE AND LOW PRICES
ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- ZEOS International Ltd. (NASDAQ-NMS: ZEOS) announced today it has begun shipping a new line of lower cost, high performance desktop personal computer systems.
Designed and manufactured by ZEOS, the new desktop systems offer features and performance enhancements that make them among the most advanced PCs sold. The company also announced that the new, more highly integrated design has allowed it to lower the selling prices across the board.
According to Greg Herrick, president of ZEOS International, "This new line of desktop and vertical personal computer workstations provide our customers with the opportunity to own the most advanced systems at extremely reasonable prices. Using the latest in high integration technology, we have been able to incorporate more features at a lower cost than ever before."
When questioned about the performance features of ZEOS' new PCs, Herrick said, "Our new systems feature microprocessor ungradability starting with the 486SX processor right up through Intel's new 1993 processor, code named P24T. In addition, we have incorporated two VESA standard local bus expansion slots enabling our customers to add high performance local bus devices including video cards which dramatically improve the performance of Microsoft Windows.
"The systems also provide the customer the opportunity to support the SCSI interface with the addition of one plug-in chip on the system motherboard. The SCSI interface option enables users to add popular SCSI devices including CD ROMS, high capacity disk drives, tape backup drives and other peripheral devices using the increasingly popular SCSI interface."
Other enhancements over most competitors product offerings include: the ability to easily add a large optional secondary memory caches, FLASH BIOS allowing for BIOS software upgrades via disk or modem and on board support for IDE hard disk drives and any combination of floppy disk drives from 360K to 2.88 megabytes as well as support for up to 64 megabytes of random access memory on the main system board.
In addition, the new ZEOS PCs support microprocessor upgradability utilizing "ZIF" (Zero Insertion Force) socket technology. The ZIF socket allows ZEOS users to upgrade microprocessors between the Intel 486SX-25, 486DX-33, 486DX2-50, 486DX2-66 microprocessors as well as the future P24T.
Upgradability and flexibility are further supported by the inclusion of a 300 watt power supply complete with its own built in surge suppression. Customers also receive ZEOS' SpaceSaver desktop case with seven drive bays or the optional ZEOS Vertical case with eight drive bays.
According to ZEOS, the performance on these new systems has actually improved over its previous systems through the incorporation of new state-of-the-art semiconductor devices provided by VLSI Technology, Inc. and other vendors. "The unique features of these new systems combined with our new pricing structure offers customers one of the very best values in computing today," Herrick said.
ZEOS International, Ltd., manufactures and markets, direct to end users, ISA and EISA (Industry and Extended Industry Standard Architecture) personal computer systems and workstations based on the Intel 80486SX and DX microprocessors worldwide under the ZEOS name. The company also provides manufacturing services under the name MPC Electronics, distributes passive electronic components through its Parts1 distribution division and provides contract product design services through its PC Tech subsididiary.
