ZENRIN DataCom Releases Mapping Software via ASP.Tokyo, Japan, Aug 22, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - ZENRIN DataCom put on sale mapping application AREACUTTER on August 22. The company also announced a joint marketing agreement with Dai Nippon Printing Dai Nippon Printing (大日本印刷 Dai Nippon Insatsu on the same day. Distributed on the ASP basis in collaboration with Nippon Printing, the application helps create simplified maps based on ZENRIN's server that databases all the geographical maps of Japan. Maps are stored in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) A vector graphics format from the W3C for the Web that is expressed in XML. Introduced in 2001, SVG was designed to become the standard vector format just as GIFs and JPEGs have become the standard bitmaps for the Web. and other formats so that users can edit and process them using retouching software. The license fee is set at 30,000 yen ($272) per ID, and the usage fee is 180,000 yen ($1,633) and up. ZENRIN plans to achieve sales of 500 million yen ($4.5 mil) in 2008.
