Z/I Imaging Corporation (NASDAQ/NMS: INGR) announced today at the annual Intergeo Conference in Cologne, Germany the release of its new innovative orthophoto management and distribution module of its TerraShare product family. TerraShare Ortho Manager provides the user the ability to display a single image backdrop that covers the entire project area from a desktop GIS or CAD application, such as ArcView 3.2.

Behind the scenes, TerraShare Ortho Manager handles everything for the user, seamlessly serving up thousands of orthos in the current map projection. TerraShare Ortho Manager combines the power of the TerraShare client/server image management and distribution system with a high performance imaging engine to serve up thousands of georeferenced images as a single seamless raster backdrop.

TerraShare was designed to meet the growing demand for tools to manage large quantities of imagery data in a production or exploitation environment. TerraShare Ortho Manager extends this storage and distribution system to the GIS and CAD desktop software user. TerraShare Ortho Manager operates as a plug-in extension to your existing GIS and CAD desktop software applications to provide quick startup with no disruption to current workflows. The new product eliminates the subtle or proprietary differences in how different software applications manage and display georeferenced imagery that can be frustrating to users and system administrators. Standard georeferenced image formats such as GeoTIFF, TIFF World, USGS DOQ, MrSID, NITF, and more are fully supported.

The TerraShare system includes administrative tools to assist with setup, adding and removing disk storage, loading images, archiving, and system monitoring. Using a preferred database, users can track images and associated metadata throughout the enterprise. Browse projects and images based on name without knowing the machine, disk, and directory in which the target is located. TerraShare isolates users from project disturbances caused by moving data between disks or servers.
