Yum, Molson Among Big Movers in the Stock Market


Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

NYSE

Sprint Nextel Corp., down 22 cents at $18.28.

The telecommunications company said Chairman, President and Chief Executive Gary Forsee will step down. The company also warned it expects full-year operating revenue to come in slightly below its targeted range.

Molson Coors Co., up $5.32 at $56.15; SABMiller PLC, up 1.4 percent at 1,487 pence ($30.32) on the London Stock Exchange.

Molson and SABMiller PLC said they plan to combine their U.S. brewing operations in an effort to compete better against industry leader Anheuser-Busch.

Yum Brands Inc., up $1.82 at $38.11.

The fast-food chain reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter profits. While revenue in the U.S. declined, strong international sales boosted results.

NASDAQ

Microchip Technology Inc., down $4.64 at $31.98.

The semiconductor company was downgraded on concerns about a flattening U.S. housing market.

Taser International Inc., up 25 cents at $18.81.

The company said a U.S. District Court judge dismissed a product liability suit involving the February 2006 death of a cook who worked in a New Orleans restaurant.

Volcano Corp., up 95 cents at $18.13.

The medical equipment maker said it expects to report third-quarter revenue of around $31.5 million due to a 28 percent increase in the sales of its intravascular ultrasound disposables in the U.S. year-over-year.
