Youth summit spawns sport appreciation.

, a coalition of cities in Southern Nevada sponsored the Youth Sports Summit and Youth Sports Festival in September '2004, at the University of Nevada University of Nevada could refer to either of the universities in the Nevada System of Higher Education:

 Sports Education & Leadership Department, Nevada Recreation and Parks Association and the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) to sponsor and participate in the summit and festival. Area youth sports league organizers and coaches were invited to participate in the summit.

 youth development elements into sports skill-training activities. The objective of the summit was to encourage leaders of youth sports organizations to take a leadership role in educating and training adult coaches about youth development strategies, helping them foster positive values among all youth through their involvement in sports. The summit organizers asked participants to help develop standards of practice that will benefit youth and adults in sports.

A free, three-hour, youth sports festival for children in grades K-8 at UNLV's Rebel Park followed the summit. Local league organizers were encouraged to provide information on their programs to tire public. Free skill-development stations for baseball, fast-pitch softball, flag football, golf and soccer were staffed by recreation professionals from Henderson Flag Football, Top Notch Cheer, UNLV Baseball, Youth Sport Journal, Youth Soccer of Nevada, Start New at Golf (SNAG) and UNIX women's fast-pitch stale The Las Vegas Wranglers team mascot entertained, two-for-one UNLV Rebel football tickets were offered, and Outback Steakhouse provided free coupons to participants.
