Meditations (Τὰ εἰς ἑαυτόν, literally "thoughts/writings addressed to , written by Paul Auster Paul Benjamin Auster (born February 3, 1947, Newark, New Jersey) is a Brooklyn-based author known for works blending absurdism and crime fiction, such as The New York Trilogy (1987), Moon Palace (1989) and The Brooklyn Follies (2005). , Baldessari and David Byrne, to name a few, range from the ritual of cooking to the impact of eating habits in the progression of a relationship. The book recognizes food as a universal part of being human as well as that which can embody em·bod·y tr.v. em·bod·ied, em·bod·y·ing, em·bod·ies 1. To give a bodily form to; incarnate. 2. To represent in bodily or material form: culture and reflect personality. The accompanying images were appropriated from films and video but share certain visual qualities. Food is present in all of the images. Most of them take place in some kind of social setting and the figures in the compositions are often partially cropped, making them secondary to the food.
