But the system is badly let down by the pathetic sentences that are given." As reported, two of the youths were given a reprimand - the equivalent of a caution for under-18s - while the third received a referral order, which requires young people to work with a youth offending team.

But PaulGreyhead responded: "I'm quite happy to pay and give the police more means to catch criminals."
