Dear Miriam,

I can't see romance coming my way in future as no man seems remotely interested in me because I have a child.

I was 16 when I got pregnant and my son will be six years old in a few weeks. His dad was my first and only boyfriend and naively na·ive or na·ïve   also na·if or na·ïf

 I believed he loved me. He hasn't been around for either me or his son.

If it wasn't for my parents, I wouldn't have been able to finish my education and get a degree. I owe them such a lot.

I was attracted to several men at college, most around my age, but as soon as they discovered I was a single mum they lost interest. Why are men afraid of women with children?

Dear Caitlin,

Discovering there are plenty of men out there who won't date single parents is shocking but, if they're that shallow, they're not worth dating anyway. In a way, having your son is helping you weed weed, common term for any wild plant, particularly an undesired plant, growing in cultivated ground, where it competes with crop plants for soil nutrients and water.  out the no-hopers. It's better to meet the right man than several wrong men.

If you've just been concentrating on men in their 20s, it's not surprising they're not knocking on your door. They're probably not mature enough to take on the responsibility of a ready-made family.

Perhaps someone older will be more understanding of your son coming first and won't be offended when there's an unexpected change of plan or interruption INTERRUPTION. The effect of some act or circumstance which stops the course of a prescription or act of limitation's.
