Young Broadcasting Inc. and Spartan TV, LLC Announce Joint Operations Agreement between WLNS-TV and WHTV-TV for Lansing Market; New Partnership is First of its Kind for Young Broadcasting.

:YBTVA) today announced that its Lansing, Michigan station WLNS-TV (a CBS affiliate) has reached a three-year Joint Sales and Shared Services agreement with Spartan TV, LLC's WHTV-TV (a UPN affiliate licensed to Jackson/Lansing, Michigan). The agreement which goes into effect on January 26th 2006, covers all advertising sales, traffic and engineering functions including operation of master control for WHTV-TV. The announcement was jointly made today by Vincent Young, Chairman of YBI and Paul Koplin, President of Spartan TV.

Said Mr. Young, "This agreement, the first of its kind for our broadcast group, provides WLNS with a nice complement to our existing sports packages including National Football League games and Michigan State football and basketball. WHTV, which attracts a younger, male-dominated audience, gives our local sales team the opportunity to sell advertisers a demographic that is complimentary to ours."

Mr. Koplin, who also serves on the UPN Board of Governors added, "Because UPN and CBS are now owned by VIACOM/CBS it only makes sense that we take full advantage of the network synergies."

Spartan TV, LLC will maintain ownership of WHTV-TV and will continue to handle all programming for the station. The station's varied programming includes the UPN prime-time line-up, such syndicated shows as "People's Court, Friends" and "Malcolm In The Middle Malcolm in the Middle is a seven-time Emmy-winning,[1] one-time Grammy-winning[1] and seven-time Golden Globe-nominated[1] American sitcom created by Linwood Boomer for the Fox Network. ," and professional sports -- Detroit Pistons National Basketball Association National Basketball Association (NBA)
