You won't need luck to find St. Patrick's fun.

Plan it right and you can celebrate St. Patrick's Day for almost an entire week.

The festivities kick off Saturday at Sheldon High School - fittingly, the home of the Sheldon Irish - with the Eugene Irish Festival. The daylong slate of events - family activities, workshops, food and craft vendors, speakers, storytellers, music and a silent auction - culminates in a separate-admission evening concert with the Comerford Dancers, An Tua and Toad in the Hole.

On Sunday, there's a double dose of Irish fun at Sam Bond's Garage. The late afternoon has the weekly Irish jam, open to all ages. That night, Laura Cortese will perform traditional and contemporary Irish music.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, you might have to make your own Irish fun. Enjoy a pint of Guinness. Whip up some corned beef and cabbage. Pop "The Secret of Roan Inish" into the DVD player, or "The Commitments," or go way back for `The Quiet Man.'

Thursday, the actual St. Patrick's Day holiday, features a host of parties at local nightclubs. They include:

The Ovulators and Tom Heinl at Sam Bond's.

The Koozies, Sawyer Family and the Whopner County Country All-Stars at the Wetlands.

Joe Ross & Friends at Tolly's Restaurant in Oakland.

Mac's and Mo's Jam at Mac's at the Vet's Club.

And then there's Toad in the Hole at Luckey's. And while it wouldn't be St. Patrick's Day without Toad in the Hole, it turns out this will be the last St. Patrick's Day with Toad in the Hole. The popular Irish jam band is calling it quits soon. And a huge Luckey's bash will be the band's sendoff.

On March 18, Joe Ross and his pals will head to the White Horse Coffee and Tea Company in Sutherlin for a show of Celtic and swinging Gypsy-grass.
