The club, who received more than pounds 800,000 funding from the Football Foundation, hope to have the new facility open in October.
As well as providing a first class facility for club members, the funding has also allowed the club to employ a football development officer who will work on promoting football in the community.
Kevin Fryett, club development officer, said the club were delighted to receive the funding and added: "This is reward for years of hard work. We are already very active in providing many primary schools with a coaching facility, and this money will allow the club to promote and sustain this facility."
MP Vera Baird, patron of the club, is delighted with the work the club is doing in the community.
She said: "The club is very well organised and is doing a wonderful job in providing an attractive diversion to anti-social behaviour and alcohol and drug misuse as well as promoting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle."
The club currently has opportunities for all footballers, both boys and girls, and runs a community club on Saturday mornings at 10am at Green Lane - bring your boots and shin pads and turn up and play for pounds 2 a session.
