You call that tourism?I was extremely disappointed to read the definition of ecotourism e·co·tour·ism n. Tourism involving travel to areas of natural or ecological interest, typically under the guidance of a naturalist, for the purpose of observing wildlife and learning about the environment. as being "the practice of visiting sites where exotic exotic not native, not indigenous. landscapes and rare animals are the main attractions" ("Good Gone Wild," SN: 9/30/06, p. 218). Ecotourism was founded with the specific goal of countering the overuse overuse Health care The common use of a particular intervention even when the benefits of the intervention don't justify the potential harm or cost–eg, prescribing antibiotics for a probable viral URI. Cf Misuse, Underuse. of the kind of travel described in the article. A better definition would be one used by the Ecotourism Society since 1990: "Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people."
