You, robot.

ASIMO, the product of Honda Motor Co.'s 18-year effort to build a humanoid robot, will roll into the Science Center in Exposition Park on Feb. 14 and 15.

The robot looks something like an astronaut--and, like humans, it has had its 15 minutes of fame, appearing in a TV commercial for its creators.

At 4 feet tall and 115 pounds, the robot is being groomed to do the work of people--assisting the elderly, and performing dangerous jobs, such as handling harmful chemicals.

"It will get kids excited and inspire them to pursue careers in scientific and technological fields," said David Bibas, curator for technology programs at the Science New: Robot in town. Center. "It's an opportunity to glimpse the future in robotics."

While its name is an acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, no science fiction reader is going to be fooled: It's a tribute to the acclaimed Isaac Asimov, author of "I, Robot."
