Yeshiva honors outstanding philanthropists.


Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered the principal address and received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Yeshiva University (YU) at the 81st Annual Hanukkah Dinner and Convocation on Sunday, December 11. at The Waldorf Astoria.

Yeshiva University President Richard M. Joel conferred honorary degrees on Senator Clinton and five other outstanding philanthropists and communal leaders, including Linda Altman, wife of prominent New York real estate broker/investor, Earle S. Altman, and member of the university's Board of Overseers and president of the National Women's Division of YU's Albert Einstein College of Medicine

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) is a graduate school of Yeshiva University. It is a private medical school located in the Jack and Pearl Resnick Campus of Yeshiva University in the Morris Park
.

The National Women's Division has raised over $100,000 for medical research and education.

The other recipients were Jay Feinberg, founder and executive director of the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation The Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation was established in 1991 as a donor recruitment organization to help save the life of New Jersey leukemia patient Jay Feinberg. Between 1991-95, the organization launched an ambitious campaign to recruit donors of Eastern-European Jewish ; Jack M. Nagel a Holocaust survivor and benefactor of Yeshiva University: Rose Yavarkovsky, a member of the executive council Members of the Executive Council (MEC) are appointed by the premier of all South African provinces to serve on the premier's executive council, which functions as a cabinet at a provincial level.  and a founding board member of the Atlantic Beach chapter of YU's Women's Organization (YUWO); and Kathryn O. Greenberg, wife of Wall Street leader, Alan C. Greenberg, and chairperson of the Board of Directors of YU's Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Both the Altmans and the Greenbergs are benefactors--the Altmans of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Greenbergs of Cardozo School of Law. Both organizations are divisions of Yeshiva.

Following the event, Mrs Altman commented, "We all work hard to support medical research and pray that. through all of our efforts, we will soon find cures for many of the diseases that plague mankind."

The dinner chairman was Marjorie Diener Blenden, chairman of the board of YU's Stern College for Women Stern College for Women (SCW) is the undergraduate women's college of arts and sciences at Yeshiva University. It is located at Yeshiva University's Midtown Campus in the Murray Hill section of Manhattan. , and convocation chair was Joseph Wilf, vice chairman of YU's Board of Trustees.

Founded in 1886, Yeshiva University has 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students studying at four New York City Campuses; the Will Campus, Israel Henry Beren Campus, Brookdale Center, and Jack and Pearl Resnick Campus.

YU's has undergraduate schools--Yeshiva College, Stern College for Women, and Sy Syms School of Business--and its graduate and affiliate schools include Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Benjamin N. It is a methods-based institution offering concentrations in social casework, social group work, and community social work. Along with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, it is located at the Louis E. and Doris Rousso Community Health Center on Yeshiva University’s Jack and Pearl Resnick Campus in the Bronx, New , and Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration The Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, a Yeshiva University professional school, was established in 1945 and named in 1983 for MontrĂ©al architect and philanthropist David J. Azrieli. .
