Yellowknife parole officer murdered.


YELLOWKNIFE, NT -- Louise Pargeter, a parole parole (pərōl`), in criminal law, release from prison of a convict before the expiration of his term on condition that his activities be restricted and that he report regularly to an officer.  officer with the Correctional Services of Canada lost her life in tragic circumstances. Her body was found in an apartment after a co-worker stated that she had failed to return from a home visit to an offender.

The Yellowknife man, in whose apartment she had been found was charged with first degree murder.

Parole officers visit parolees in their home settings from time to time and this was her first visit to the man. Louise Pargeter was featured in the CSC's magazine, Let's Talk, in 2001 visiting parolees in a native treatment facility in a remote camp in the Territory.
