Yellow Pages Publishers Report Record 2001 AD Revenue; Present Industry Forecast For 2002; Industry Results Hold Steady in Face of Economic Challenges.

). This represents growth of approximately 2.8 percent over the previous year.

"Although these numbers are slightly off the forecast made early in 2001, they show continued strength in a year during which most all other media suffered significant losses," noted Joel Raphael, acting director of the Research Institute.

The data is based on the aggregate results provided to the Institute by Yellow Pages publishers in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . It includes local and national spending in the more than 6,000 Yellow Pages directories published domestically.

"We are cautiously optimistic about these numbers in that, year-over-year, Yellow Pages media have maintained consistent growth during economic cycles in which other media have been affected significantly," said John A. This forecast is based on a survey of the Yellow Pages industry.
