Year 2000 Wire/Viasoft Announces Worldwide Agreement with EQUANT Integration Services; EQUANT will Integrate OnMark 2000 as Key Component in Year 2000 HealthCheck Program.

(Nasdaq NM: VIAS), a leading provider of business solutions to help companies manage and evolve their information assets, today announced a worldwide agreement with EQUANT Integration Services (formerly ITS) of the UK. The strategic alliance will enable EQUANT to integrate Viasoft's OnMark 2000(tm) distributed year 2000 solution as part of its "Year 2000 HealthCheck" program, which will be targeted at the world's top 100 airlines as well as EQUANT's customers worldwide.

The EQUANT Year 2000 HealthCheck program audits customer Local Area Network environments by assessing and updating desktop personal computers (PCs) for millennium compliance. The OnMark 2000 family of software technology is Viasoft's end-to-end solution to address each phase of a year 2000 conversion on PC desktops and client/server applications. EQUANT is the leading global network integrator providing a fully managed Wide-Area-Network-to-desktop solution from a single point of contact.

While most companies worldwide are attempting to solve the year 2000 compliance problem on their mainframes, very few are addressing the problem on their PCs. According to the Gartner Group, at least 90 percent of companies will incur losses in revenue or business process failures due to year 2000 problems on their PCs after the turn of the century. Industry analysts predict that the desktop millennium date change problem will cost between $10 billion and $42 billion to correct, for the estimated 240 million PCs worldwide.

The Viasoft OnMark 2000 Solution

Viasoft's OnMark 2000 version 2.1 has the ability to run on Spanish, German, French and Italian language versions of Windows 3.xx, Windows 95 and Windows NT operating systems, allowing a more global usage of the enhanced toolset. OnMark 2000 Survey allows corporations to inventory their PC hardware and software assets down to the version level to determine compliancy. Custom year 2000-specific reports are generated to assist the customer in measuring progress and the software integrates with OnMark 2000 Assess.

OnMark 2000 Assess conducts a thorough risk assessment of hardware and desktop software, including spreadsheets, databases and data files, to determine the severity level of all systems at risk and for fixing the hardware BIOS. Assess uses parsing technology to find two digit years and their impact on spreadsheet formulas, macros and calculations. The software integrates with OnMark 2000 Survey, possesses scanning capabilities and a new enterprise database.

OnMark 2000 Workbench for Excel provides discovery, impact analysis and repair of year 2000 problems in complex Excel spreadsheets. This comprehensive workbench allows a customer to quickly drill down to the Excel cells that may have year 2000 problems. The software parses embedded Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code analysis and allows for repair of spreadsheets.

OnMark 2000 Workbench for MS-Access is a new addition to the OnMark suite of products and is used for discovery and impact analysis of year 2000 problems in MS-Access applications, including forms, tables, queries, macros and embedded VBA code.

OnMark 2000 Client/Server Workbenches analyze, plan and help to remediate year 2000 problems in client/server applications written in C/C++, Visual Basic, PowerBuilder and UNIX Shell Scripts. The workbenches include integration with MS Project to build detailed project plans for fixing and testing client/server applications.

VIA/AutoTest(tm) delivers automated, multi-platform, functional equivalence testing of changed applications before and after they are placed back into production.
