Kids rise to the challenge of cursive writing Also called "script," a form of handwriting in which each letter of a word is connected to another letter. Contrast with "block lettering" or "printing," in which the individual letters do not touch.  when they get to do it in living color In Living Color is a ground-breaking sketch comedy television series which ran on the FOX Network from April 15, 1990 to May 19, 1994. Executive producer Keenen Ivory Wayans created, wrote, and starred in the program. , with yarn and clear Elmer's School Glue No Run Gel. This fun activity creates desk nameplates for each student and reinforces the fact that cursive words are formed from a single, continuous line.

How to Make It

1. Supply students with lots of colorful yarn, construction paper, and Elmer's School Glue No Run Gel. 2. Have students practice writing their names in cursive first, in pencil, onto the construction paper. Help them get it right! 3. Next, have students cover their signature carefully with the gel. 4. Now lay the yarn over In knitting, a yarn over is technique in which the yarn is passed over the right-hand knitting needle.

There are several types of yarn-over, depending on how many times the yarn is wrapped around the knitting needle and on the direction (chirality) with which the yarn is
 the gel and press lightly. 5. Creatively decorate nameplates with more yarn, flowers, beans, or buttons. 6. Mount on Elmer's Foam Board Foam board is a type of display board made primarily with foam. It generally consists of a foam core in between two sheets of thin, rigid paper; and is characterized by its light weight, and the ease with which it is scored.  for a sturdier sign to last the whole year.
