Yankee doodling ...

We remember exactly when we became a baseball fan. We were eight years old and lived just a few blocks away from where an army of diggers Diggers, members of a small English religio-economic movement (fl. 1649–50), so called because they attempted to dig (i.e., cultivate) the wastelands. They were an offshoot of the more important group of Puritan extremists known as the Levelers.  was breaking ground for an awesome baseball park A baseball park, baseball stadium, or ball park / ballpark is the field of play in the game of baseball and the spectator seating areas or any other features around it.  called Yankee Stadium Coordinates:

All kinds of goodies dotted the huge area inside and around the colossus Colossus - (A huge and ancient statue on the Greek island of Rhodes).

: extra diamonds, a running track, several basketball courts, a huge parking lot, a couple of dozen stores, and the promise of a $150,000 check to the Boston Red Sox The Boston Red Sox are a professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox are a member and currently champions of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball’s American League. From to the present, the Red Sox have played in Fenway Park. .

That was the price for the most awesome player in the game--a young Red Sox giant who could pitch better than anyone else and hit the most tremendous home runs ever witnessed by mankind.

Eighty-seven years later, Yankee Stadium is still called the "The House That Ruth Built." But it isn't going to be for long. Yankee Stadium #3 is under construction.

It is weird. The biggest stadium, the richest team, the team with the greatest all-time record, the team that has produced heroes like Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Berra, Jeter, and dozens of other super stars.

What is so wrong with Yankee Stadium #2 that it has to be destroyed?

How much more money does George Steinbrenner need?

How many more games do the Yanks have to win?

How many more fans do they need?

How many more hot dogs do they have to sell?

All of this has never made any sense to us. The only word we can think of is greed.
