Yankee Stadium make-over.

Bronx Borough President Borough President (informally BP, or Beep in slang) is an elective office in each of the five boroughs of New York City.

The offices of borough president were created in 1898 with the formation of the City of Greater New York.
 Adolfo Carrion unveiled his Yankee Stadium Coordinates:

The plan includes preserving the existing stadium for community use, a hotel, improved public transportation accessibility, a new high school for sports industry careers, a Yankee Hall of Fame and Museum and the development of public parks. Carrion's plan compliments the stadium plan proposed by the Yankee organization and the existing redevelopment plans for the Bronx Terminal Market. "To be clear, this plan is not simply about a stadium; it's about creating a competitive urban place for sports, entertainment, education, parks, business activity and a good return on the taxpayer's dollar," said Borough President Carrion at the ABNY breakfast of business leaders.

"This is about bringing jobs to our residents, restoring our neighborhoods, and educating our community."

Highlights of the plan include: Historic Yankee Field--existing stadium will be preserved and made accessible to the public as a little league field, destination spot and a village green for the community; a 250-room hotel and conference center; new Metro North Station--at stadium gates which will serve as both a station stop with regular daily service, extended Yankee game services and a destination for excursion excursion /ex·cur·sion/ (eks-kur´zhun) a range of movement regularly repeated in performance of a function, e.g., excursion of the jaws in mastication.  packages.

Yankee Hall of Fame and Museum to be housed at the existing stadium; Bronx Terminal Market/Gateway Center--4 buildings with over 2,500 square feet of retail, entertainment and parking space within walking distance to the stadium and hotel;

And, additional parks and green space throughout the extended Yankee Stadium community, including a velodrome ve·lo·drome

"In order for a sports stadium to be beneficial to the host city, it must be part of a larger strategy that adds value to that city and the immediate neighborhood. That value must come in terms of revenue, quality of life, jobs, and serve as a stimulus for economic activity in the local marketplace," Carrion said.

"Future generations will look back and be grateful that we were bold and visionary when presented with such an opportunity."

This plan is part of the Borough President's The Bronx At Work initiative--a strategy to boost the Bronx economy through redevelopment, attracting new business investment, incorporating economic-generating activities, and job creation.
