Yamaha acquires Rogers Drums.


Yamaha Corp. of America has acquired the intellectual property rights to the Rogers Drum Company. The move followed the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of Brook Mays Brook Mays Music Group known generally just as Brook Mays, was a Dallas, Texas-based retailer of musical instruments, sheet music, and supplies.

 Music. Rogers, founded in 1849, boasts a rich heritage of manufacturing excellence and holds a reputation as one of the most innovative lines of drums ever sold. The Dyna-Sonic snare drum, the company's centerpiece, is prized by collectors and players.

The Swiv-O-Matic foot pedal led to the creation of flexible hardware for cymbals cymbals (sĭm`bəlz), percussion instruments of ancient Asian origin. They consist of a pair of slightly concave metal plates which produce a vibrant sound of indeterminate pitch.  and tom-toms that set the standard for durability and ease of use, while the company's memory-lock system has been adapted by almost every other manufacturer. Past endorsers have included Buddy Rich Bernard "Buddy" Rich (September 30 1917 Brooklyn, New York – April 2 1987) was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. Rich was billed as "the world's greatest drummer"[1] and was known for his virtuoso technique, power, and speed. , Louie Bellson Luigi Paulino Alfredo Francesco Antonio Balassoni (born 6 July 1924), better known by the stage name Louie Bellson, is an American jazz drummer. He is considered to be one of the few drummers whose technical proficiency is in the league of Buddy Rich.  and Ed Shaughnessy.

The acquisition fits into Yamaha's expansion plan to provide high-quality, complementary products with a wider reach across the country. Prior to Brook Mays's stewardship, the Rogers brand was variously the property of a number of companies in recent years, including CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  Musical Instruments (as part of the Fender/Rogers/Rhodes group), Island Musical Supply, and Grossman Music Corp.
