The Yamaha Corporation (ヤマハ株式会社
 of America, Orchestral Strings Department, will sponsor the MTNA String Performance Competitions. Yamaha provided a $1,000 award for the winner of the junior string competition in Kansas City Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo. (inc. 1850).  in March 2004 and plans to continue its support of the string competitions in the future.

Yamaha Corporation of America has been a long-standing sponsor of the senior piano competition and recently added sponsorship of the senior percussion percussion /per·cus·sion/ (per-kush´un) the act of striking a part with short, sharp blows as an aid in diagnosing the condition of the underlying parts by the sound obtained.  competition.
