YULE JOG 5K JINGLE BELL RACE ATTRACTS 124 RUNNERS.

PALMDALE - Two teenage distance runners ran away with the top overall awards at the fifth annual Jingle Bell Jog 5K race Dec. 18 at Pelona Vista Park.

Former Desert Christian High School Christian High School, also known as CHS, is in O'Fallon, Missouri. The school mascot is the Eagle and the school colors are teal and black. Their women's soccer team has won many state championships.  cross-country runner Sky Johnston, 18, was first overall in 17.44 minutes, while Highland High runner Alyssa Craft, 16, was the first female and fifth overall in 18.35 minutes.

The pair dominated a field of 124 runners, joggers and fitness walkers who participated in the 2004 event, down from 144 who participated in last year's race.

Only eight children ran the companion 1K Elf Run for children age 10 and under, down from 25 last year.

A host of teenage cross-country runners and masters-age men were represented in the top 20 positions, with eight runners breaking the 20-minute barrier.

 coed Katie Schettig, 21, was a few steps behind, taking third place for females and 13th place overall in 20.21.

Seven-year-old Aaron Daley was the first finisher in the children's 1K Elf Run, with a time of 4.55 minutes.

Staged annually by the High Desert Runners, the Antelope Valley's distance running club, the Jingle Bell Jog 2004 was run under ideal conditions on a newly designed course entirely within the park and its adjacent storm water catch basin catch basin

Medals were awarded to the top male and female runners in age groups ranging from 12 and under to 70-plus. The first three male and female finishers in the kids' Elf Run also received medals, with other children in that event receiving a participation ribbon.
