YOUTH ICE HOCKEY: PLAYERS OUTGROWING ICE STATION.

Byline: GIDEON RUBIN Special to the Daily News

VALENCIA -- Developing local talent is one of the primary objectives of the Ice Station Valencia's hockey program.

It can also be a curse.

Such is the dilemma Valencia Vipers coach Larry Bruyere faces as he prepares to establish a team for the 2006-07 season.

The Vipers, a Junior B team that competes in the Western States Hockey League -- the highest level of amateur hockey played in California -- already have lost one key player and are at risk of losing several others who are trying out for more advanced level Junior A teams.

Forward Tony Torossian, who played for Valencia last season, already has received an offer from the Portland (Maine) Junior Pirates This is a list of known pirates, buccaneers, corsairs, privateers, and others involved in piracy. This list includes both captains and prominent crew members.

Other key projected returnees currently pursuing Junior A aspirations include forward Chris Gale, the team's leading scorer last season, forward Tony Miller and goalie Paul Hart Paul Hart (born April 4, 1953 in Golborne, Greater Manchester) is an English football manager and former player. He is the son of Johnny Hart, and is presently director of youth football at Portsmouth. .

``We want them to move on, because that's what we're here for,'' Bruyere said. ``But it becomes bittersweet bittersweet, name for two unrelated plants, belonging to different families, both fall-fruiting woody vines sometimes cultivated for their decorative scarlet berries. , because it's tough replacing your best guys.''

Bruyere, who is also the team's general manager, soon must start making tough choices.

His deadline is Tuesday to submit a 25-player protected list to the USA Hockey USA Hockey is recognized International Olympic Committee and the United States Olympic Committee as the governing body for amateur ice hockey in the United States and is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation.  Junior Council Registrar.

The Vipers play host to an invitation-only tryout camp Aug. 18-20.

The WSHL's schedule will be announced early next week. The season begins the second week of September.

Strong candidates to make the team include forward Viktor Kozhevinikov, who played for the Vipers last season; defenseman Kevin Lapp and forward Anthony Kendryna, products of the Ice Station's Express travel program; and Cody Dinwiddie, a recent Canyon High of Canyon Country grad who played for the school's Ice Station High School Hockey club team and also played elite-level Tier-1 Midget hockey for the Simi Valley-based Ventura Mariners.
