The Whiz Kids were ten United States Army Air Forces veterans of World War II who became Ford Motor Company executives in 1946.

They were led by their commanding officer, Charles B.
 of youth baseball.

Matt Aidem, Brandon Bradsher, Mike Scripture, Chris Valaika and Daniel Worth are two steps away from qualifying for their fourth consecutive World Series appearance.

Should they win the tournament, which runs through Monday, they will advance to the Zone Tournament next week in Whittier. The Bronco World Series will be played in two weeks at Monterey.

In 1994, the five players helped lead Hart to the Pinto pinto

The following season, all were part of a travel team that captured the 1995 Continental Amateur Baseball Association The Amateur Baseball Association is an 18 and older amateur baseball league in central/Northern New Jersey that is based out of Clifton, New Jersey. The fact that this year's Bronco team is still playing is remarkable.

Hart fought its way through the loser's bracket of last weekend's 10-team Section Tournament, then swept previously unbeaten Toluca Lake in two games on the final day.

Hart rallied from a 7-0 deficit in the first game to win 8-7 on Michael Lopez's RBI RBI

Hart then pounded Toluca Lake a team that had won three of four previous meetings in a 20-10 championship-game rout.

``Nothing seems to bother them,'' said Dave Scripture, who coaches the team with manager Kenny Bayer.

Aidem, Scripture, Valaika and Worth all start for the Bronco team, while Bradsher is one of the club's key pitchers.

And, while it may be unusual to have so many 11-year-olds contributing on an 11- and 12-year-old team, several 12-year-olds also are playing pivotal roles.

Pitcher Adam Tripp slugged five home runs in last week's eight-game Section run. Brett Erickson, 12, and Aidem each added three, while Kevin Estes, Matt Moore and Joel Nagatoshi also contributed home runs.

The Bronco team isn't the only Hart program still alive in tournament play.

The Pinto B team (8 and 9 years) has advanced to the Regional World Series in Walnut this week and the Mustang A team (9-10) has a bye until it hosts next month's Zone Tournament.
