YOUTH BASEBALL: THOUSAND OAKS' ROAD BLOCKED BY OAK VIEW.

route in getting to the junior division championship game, but the team was there Tuesday night and hoping to forge on to the next level.

Before moving on, however, the 13-year-old all-stars needed to defeat Oak View Little League twice - once Tuesday night and then again today. If they still are alive tonight, game time will be 5 p.m. at El Rio Little League in Oxnard.

The teams met once, in the earlier rounds, with Oak View winning 11-2. Thousand Oaks held a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning when Oak View scored all of its runs.

``We we're up 2-0 and cruising,'' Thousand Oaks coach Ed Kitchen said. ``Then the roof caved in. They got a couple of hits and then we broke down on defense. It was the worst luck I'd seen in an inning, and I've been coaching a long time. But we've put that behind us and we're going to go out and try and win this. The kids know they can play with them.''

Jake Brin was scheduled to start Tuesday night. Kitchen was unsure of who would go if there was a game today.

``We still feel really good about the whole tournament,'' Kitchen said. ``We had one bad inning. I think we'll be OK.''

To qualify for the championship game, Thousand Oaks had to defeat Santa Ynez on Monday. It did, easily winning 25-3.
