DECORATING

CHRISTMAS CHIC: Rachel Ashwell's ``Shabby Chic'' decor - based on slipcovered sofas with comfy goosedown cushions - started as a decorating trend, but it's become a national lifestyle.

Ashwell's weathered English country cottage design has not only inspired a home furnishings company, three books and a TV show ``Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic'' on The Style Network, but now there's a weeklong special for the holidays.

It's called ``Shabby Chic Christmas'' and airs at noon Monday on The Style Network (and again on Dec. 9). Then on Tuesday, Ashwell focuses on decorations, illuminations on Wednesday, tabletops on Thursday and gifts on Friday. ``Shabby Chic Christmas'' will also air at 11 a.m. Dec. 23 on E!.
