YOUNG HOLLYWOOD LIFE: For a glimpse of how today's hottest stars live and play, drop by the ``Young Hollywood Home'' design showcase at the Pacific Design Center.

The luxurious 6,000-square-foot space, sponsored by the design center and Movieline's Hollywood Life, features a revolving lounge surrounded by a chrome bead curtain, a media room done in a glamorous 1930s Hollywood style and even a meditation room for starlets who just need to relax.

The home's nine rooms are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Nov. 11, and it's free to the public. Pacific Design Center, Space B219, 8687 Melrose Ave., Hollywood. (310) 657-0800. www.pacificdesigncenter.com.

BLOWN AWAY: Fall foliage may be beautiful, but unfortunately those multicolored leaves never stay on the tree. Ryobi Outdoor Products has released two new leaf blowers to ease the chore of cleaning up your yard. The hand-held gas blower ($129) offers easy start-up and cruise control so you don't have to hold the trigger at any speed. It also vacuums and mulches. The easy-to-handle backpack gas blower ($199) features a comfortable mesh frame. Both models come with a two-year warranty and are sold exclusively at The Home Depot.

The claws feature ``hanging holes'' for easy storage and adjustable handle straps. They retail for about $5.95 and are available at Ace Hardware, Do-It-Best, Lowes and TruServe stores, online at www.midwestglove.com, or by calling (800) 689-9164.

LET IT GLOW: There are some fun new ways to brighten your life this fall. For college students, light up your dorm rooms in groovy style with LAVA's glitter night light. Shaped like a LAVA lamp, it sparkles, moves and glows and can be plugged into your computer's USB port. Or, if you're looking to pimp your ride, try the auto LAVA light, which can be mounted to your car's center console with Velcro. These and other illuminating products are available at stores including Target, Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and Spencer Gifts or www.lavaworld.com.

BUYING A HOME 101: Buying a home can be a daunting task. The UCLA Extension program makes the process easier with a one-day Home Buyer's Clinic. The clinic, presented by Realtor Alan A. ``Scotty'' Herd, will cover all aspects of buying a home, including understanding offers and escrow instructions escrow instructions n. the written instructions by buyer and seller of real estate given to a title company, escrow company or individual escrow in "closing" a real estate transaction. (See: closing, escrow), using property inspection services and checking the value of a home or condominium. The cost is $165 for the clinic, which meets from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in Room 2250 of the Public Policy Building on the UCLA campus, Westwood.
