,'' premiering Monday at 8 p.m. on HGTV HGTV Home and Garden Television . Appraisers Tim Luke and Christine Downing show families how to sort through their stuff to uncover not-so-obvious valuables. Once homeowners are convinced to part with their objects, it's off to auction to find out how much these often-everyday pieces are worth. Viewers can also soak up practical tips to aid in their own home treasure hunt. Luke offers these recommendations about what to look for on items: no chips, no cracks, no excessive wear, overall good condition. He also suggests five main things to watch for when identifying an item: manufacturer markings, dates, material, design element and the item's form and function. So forget the antique Chippendales - big-bucks pieces may be right under your nose.
