YOUR PLACE FESTIVE ON THE FLY.

Byline: Diana McKeon Charkalis Lifestyle Editor

If you're home for the holidays this year, L.A. designer Erinn Valencich has some easy, last-minute tips for bringing a look of yuletide cheer to your living space and holiday table.

She has chosen two different schemes - a bright red and white palette with a contemporary twist, and a more retro-chic bright blue and lime green. But she says you can try any set of shades as long as you stick with them.

``It's easy to create harmony throughout with a clear color palette Also called a "color lookup table," "lookup table," "index map," "color table" or "color map," it is a commonly used method for saving file space when creating 8-bit color images. . There are no rules. You can be playful and get away with it during the holidays.''

Here are ideas to help create some holiday glow and sparkle:

HAVE A BALL: Use your ornaments Ornaments are a frequent embellishment to music. Sometimes different symbols represent the same ornament, or vice versa. Different ornament names can refer to an ornament from a specific area or time period.  in unusual ways. Try them scattered down the dinner table among candles for a festive centerpiece, or in a tall cylinder vase on a coffee or side table. Or place a few small iridescent ir·i·des·cent

Valencich also loves to pile them high in a decorative bowl and use them on a buffet or mantle.

Quick tip: To keep ornaments from rolling off a flat surface, use a bit of double-sided tape Double-sided tape is a variety of adhesive tape that is coated with adhesive on both sides. It is designed to stick two lightweight surfaces together.

Double sided tape is often more effective with sticking objects, such as paper, cardboard, and arts and crafts together than

PAPER AND BOWS: If you haven't finished wrapping yet, try covering gifts in the colors of your holiday palette for a well-coordinated look. Choose a few wrapping papers Noun 1. wrapping paper - a tough paper used for wrapping

in your colors and use them exclusively. ``Presents are decorations, too - right up until they are ripped open!''

EVERYDAY ELEGANCE: Use decorative accessories that are not holiday-themed when decorating. Valencich loves to bring in creative elements like red coral, or simple things like picture frames, coffee table books, bowls and vases.``Go around your house and grab anything in the palette you've chosen, even if it's a children's toy.''

RAID YOUR CLOSET: Use fabrics, scarves scarves

as decoration. ``This season, I used a red patterned Valentino scarf on my coffee table as a runner. Think outside the box!''

MOOD LIGHTING: Ambience is very important when entertaining, even if it's just an intimate family dinner. Dim lighting, lots of candles and glittery votives make things sparkle and really set the mood - so make sure you coordinate your candles with your color palette. ``I like to mix glitter candles with nonglittery ones in the same color so as to not go overboard with the shiny stuff.''
