YOUR HAIRCUT CAN HELP FIND A CURE; STYLISTS PUTTING SCISSORS TOWARD FIGHTING CANCER.Byline: - Carol Bidwell As a hairstylist, Rosie Rost knows all too well the heartbreak of women undergoing cancer treatments. Not only is there the fear of not surviving and the nausea nausea, sensation of discomfort, or queasiness, in the stomach. It may be caused by irritation of the stomach by food or drugs, unpleasant odors, overeating, fright, or psychological stress. It is usually relieved by vomiting. that accompanies chemotherapy, but women usually lose their crowning glory: their hair. So Rost, owner of Hair House in Woodland Hills, three of her stylists and a handful of customers will participate in the fund-raising Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk for men and women who want to make a personal difference in the fight against breast cancer. 3-Day participants commit to fundraising, training, and dedicating an entire weekend to the cause. Walk to raise money for breast cancer research and outreach programs. The 55-mile trek starts Oct. 22 in Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850. and ends Oct. 24 in Malibu. To participate, each walker must have raised $1,700 or more. To raise their $55 entry fees plus their $1,700 donations, Rost and her employees will offer 25 percent off the regular prices of haircuts, blow-dries, manicures, pedicures and mini-facials on Sunday at Hair House, 19710 Ventura Blvd. ``I've been working with cancer patients, to style their wigs and then their hair when it grows back in, and I never realized before how many people have cancer,'' Rost said. ``I'm so much more aware of it, and this event makes many more people aware of it.'' Rost will be joined on the walk by stylists Leah Wagner, Sally Santana and Gina O'Mara, plus several customers. They know the walk will be long and taxing, ``and we've been training,'' Rost said. ``The longest we've walked at a stretch is 15 miles; that's about what we'll do in a day.
