YOUR `PASSPORT'; FASHION EXTRAVAGANZA, FROM EXOTIC TO EROTIC.

Byline: Barbara De Witt Daily News Fashion Editor

It was a fashion lover's dream come true, complete with ``Baywatch's'' David Hasselhoff as a model.

``Passport '97,'' billed as the biggest fashion show in the country, was a multimedia-style extravaganza and three-ring circus with a dash of the old ``Ed Sullivan Show.'' On a catwalk that stretched the length of a football field, familiar supermodels strutted their stuff; hunky hun·ky 1

The Macy's/American Express benefit held Friday night at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica pulled out all the stops with an awesome collection of talent, starting with its honorary chairmen, Elizabeth Taylor and Earvin ``Magic'' Johnson. , Taylor provided the drama with her expression of grief over the deaths of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa - and hoped that we'd keep their spirit alive in our hearts.

Also entertaining the crowd of 2,700 that raised $2 million for local AIDS projects were Grammy winner k.d. lang, and Jasmine Guy and the cast of ``Chicago'' performing ``All That Jazz'' as an introduction to a collection of '20s-inspired flapper dresses by Anna Sui.

But the highlight of the evening was ``Pan Asia,'' a Chinese New Year's parade of cheongsams and slip dresses by Kamisato and Jessica McClintock on models wearing long gloves, feathers and elaborate hats that looked like banquet centerpieces.

Providing cocktail party music was Pink Martini, while Kenneth Cole's retro classics for men were shown. And Aero Betty aerialists did circus stunts while male supermodels Tyson Beckford and Matt King and actors Nick Scotti and Shemar Moore paraded the runway in bathrobes, which they dropped to reveal the latest in Ralph Lauren underwear.

More fashion stories were told in gold to the music of ``GoldenEye'' with gold-painted models sparkling in metallic gowns by Canadian designer Lida Baday, including a gown made entirely of American Express credit cards.

Also featured were the fall collections of Armani, DKNY DKNY Donna Karan New York , Mossimo, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and L.A. designer Max Azria for BCBG BCBG Bon Chic Bon Genre .
