YOUNGSTERS TO MIX FUN, HEAVY ISSUES AT SUMMIT.

Freebies, jamming music and good advice await area youngsters Saturday, when CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  hosts Youth Taking Action, the third annual San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

As many as 600 young people are expected to turn out for the event from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an .

Workshop topics include alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; youth violence; healthy relationships; AIDS/HIV and sexually transmitted diseases Sexually transmitted diseases

Giveaways will be provided by Rap Pages Magazine, Green Sido Records, Starbound Records, Thump Records, Musik Factory, True Roots, Agua Boogie Records, Behind the Groove Records, Latin Style Magazine and Party Time Magazine.

Summit sponsors include the San Fernando Valley Partnership Inc., San Fernando Valley Youth Organization, Los Angeles Commission on Assaults Against Women, LA Link, CSUN Chicano Studies Department and Los Angeles Unified School District The Los Angeles Unified School District (the "LAUSD") is the largest (in terms of number of students) public school system in California and the second-largest in the United States.
